CALDA or Mamma Marias?

If you had been going around General Santos City lately, you must have noticed that there are lots of FOOD JOINTS sprouting like mushrooms. Another sign that the Tuna Capital of the Philippines is indeed progressing. Two places that are claiming popularity these days are the Pizza Joints - Calda Pizza and Mamma Maria's Pizzeria.

Both serve  affordable, large pizzas reaching up to 36 inches with different toppings to choose from. In case you been out of this planet and didn't heard about these two pizza joints, let me compare the two according to AMBIANCE, SERVING STAFF and FOOD.

Ambiance:
Mamma Maria's Pizzeria is more on the higher-end compared to Calda which features an outdoor seating. Mamma Maria's has good interiors that can be appreciated by groups and can be equally romantic for lovers while the latter is more of for the cowboy types with the picnic-like tables they use. I love the clean and dry comfort room of Mamma Maria's unlike those of CALDAs which lacks maintenance. Both are small, neither one can serve more than fifty people at once because of location restrictions. For coziness, I'll give the star for this category to Mamma Maria's Pizzeria.

Serving Staff:
One thing that makes me go back to a restaurant are the  FRIENDLY, EFFICIENT and ACCOMMODATING staffs. A factor that most business people neglect. With the growing costumers, both Calda Pizza and Mamma Maria's had problem keeping up. Both lacks manpower especially during busy hours. People usually waits 30 minutes or so to finally enjoy their orders. So, here's a piece of advice for you impatient first time triers, make sure to make reservation/order in advance. Both does not get a STAR from me for their serving staffs for now!

Food:
We are now on our final category. The FOOD. Both may be serving thin crust pizza but Calda's crust texture is more crispy, firm, never soggy and easy to chew. Plus, Calda is generous with their toppings compared to Mamma Maria's who weighs everything (from dough to cheese) they put on your pizza. Mamma Maria Pizzeria may be the first to introduce the large thin crust pizza here in General Santos City but I find Calda Pizza more delicious than that of Mamma Maria's. The advantage of the latter though, is they also have PASTA in their menu which CALDA does not have. PIZZAwise, I will totally go for CALDA.
